Gemma (AI): Hello, this is Gemma, Hollybank Plumbing and Electrical's AI assistant. What's happened, and how can I help?

Caller: Hi, a pipe's burst under my kitchen sink and there's water everywhere!

Gemma (AI): Turn off the water at the stopcock under your kitchen sink right away, turn on the cold taps to drain the pipes, and keep away from any electrics near the water. I can offer Sunday at half past one, Sunday at two o'clock, or Sunday at half past two for an emergency callout, shall I book one of those for you?

Gemma (AI): Thank you. To book the engineer for half past one, two o'clock, or half past two today, could you please give me your name?

Caller: Yes please, as soon as you can.

Gemma (AI): I can book the half past one slot for you right now, what is your name so I can register the booking?

Caller: Karen Doyle, my mobile is 07700 900456.

Gemma (AI): You're booked for an emergency callout on Sunday at half past one. The engineer has your details and will call you when they're on their way.

Every call answered while you are on the tools.

An AI answering service for trades is software that answers a plumbing, electrical or heating firm's phone calls in a real conversation while the team is on a job or the office is closed. AInora's agent triages emergencies such as a burst pipe, no heating or a power cut on your own rules, sends the on-call engineer when the threshold is met, captures quote details, books callouts into real slots and texts you the job. It speaks British English, works on your existing +44 number and says it is an AI at the start of every call. Try the live demo above in your browser: click the mic, no sign-up.

What is an AI answering service for plumbers, electricians and heating engineers?

The people who do the work in a trade business are the people who cannot answer the phone: under a sink, up a ladder, halfway through a rewire. The calls that come in are often urgent and worth the most, and a homeowner with water coming through the ceiling does not leave a voicemail and wait. They ring the next firm on the list.

AInora answers those calls. It asks the questions you would ask, decides against your own rules whether the job is an emergency, sends your on-call engineer only when it is, and books everything else into the next real slot. Quote requests reach you with the details you need to price them, and every call ends with a text to you or the engineer. You cover more callouts with the same team, without anyone taking the phone on a job.

How does it triage an emergency call?

Danger now: a gas smell, active flooding, sparking or a burning smell

A safety call first and a booking second. The agent gives the safety instruction you have written, word for word, then alerts your on-call engineer and you. For a gas smell in Great Britain that instruction normally includes the national gas emergency service number, 0800 111 999 (HSE). The agent never improvises safety advice and never books a danger call for next week.

Urgent: no heating or hot water, a contained leak, power out in part of the house

The agent asks your triage questions: is anyone elderly, unwell or very young in the house, is there any heat at all, has the stopcock or the switch been turned off. If the answers meet your threshold, the on-call engineer is sent with the details already collected. If not, the caller gets the first slot in the morning and knows it before they hang up.

Routine: a dripping tap, an annual boiler service, a new socket

Booked into the next real slot in your diary, confirmed by text, with nobody woken. Quote requests are captured with the details you need to price the job, and a survey is booked if you work that way.

You write the thresholds and the safety wording; the agent follows them. See also how dispatch runs for heating and plumbing firms · home services

What does AInora do for plumbers, electricians and heating engineers?

Emergency triage on your rules

Burst pipes, no heating and power cuts are sorted by the thresholds you write. Your on-call engineer is woken only for what meets them, and every decision is in the transcript.

Callouts booked on the call

The agent offers real slots, quotes your fixed call-out charge if you give it one, books the job and texts the customer the time and the engineer's name.

Quote details captured

Boiler type and age, bedrooms and bathrooms, the size of the job, access, timing and budget: you choose the questions, and the answers reach you ready to price.

The owner texted every job

Each call ends with a text, WhatsApp message or email to you or the engineer on call: who rang, what they need and what was booked.

Plumbing, electrical and heating calls routed

Multi-trade firms get each call to the right person: a leak to the plumber, a tripping RCD to the electrician, a boiler fault to the heating engineer.

Cold-snap surges answered

The first frost brings everyone's boiler problems at once. The agent answers every caller, so nobody hears an engaged tone and rings the next firm.

Service reminders

Existing customers who agreed to hear from you are called when the annual boiler service or the landlord gas safety check is due, and booked in one call. More: calling customers when a service is due.

Keep your +44 number

Calls to your existing landline or mobile are forwarded to the agent: all day, only when you do not pick up, or after hours. Customers dial the same number as today.

Questions tradespeople ask.

Is there an AI answering service for trades and home services in the UK (plumbers, electricians)?
Yes. AInora is an AI answering service for UK trades: plumbers, electricians, heating engineers and other home-services firms. It answers every call in British English while you are on a job or after hours, triages emergencies on your own rules, books callouts, captures quote details and texts you the job. It works on your existing +44 number, so you cover more callouts with the same team.
How does it handle emergency calls at night?
It answers on the first ring, asks the triage questions you wrote and decides against your own threshold whether to send the on-call engineer now or book the first slot in the morning. A burst pipe at 10pm gets the stopcock instruction and an engineer on the way; a dripping tap gets a booking for the morning.
Will it wake me for something that is not an emergency?
Only if your own threshold says it should, and you write that threshold. A gas smell, active flooding, no heating with someone vulnerable in the house or a sparking socket are typical wake conditions; a dripping tap at midnight is not. Every decision is in the transcript, so you can see what triggered it and tighten the rule.
What happens if a caller smells gas?
It is treated as a safety call first. The agent gives the safety instruction you have written, word for word, such as leaving the property and calling the national gas emergency service on 0800 111 999 in Great Britain, and then alerts you. It never improvises safety advice.
Can it give customers my prices?
It quotes the fixed prices you give it, such as your call-out charge or the price of an annual boiler service, and captures the details of anything that needs a quote so you can price it properly.
Can it book jobs into Commusoft, Jobber, simPRO or ServiceM8?
Where your job management software gives API access on your plan, the job is written in live while the caller is still on the phone. Where it does not, the job reaches you by text or email, ready to accept, and the customer still gets their confirmation straight away. We check which applies to your account before you commit.
How is it different from a telephone answering service?
A human answering service usually takes a message, and someone decides in the morning whether it was urgent. AInora triages on the call using your questions, sends the on-call engineer only for what meets your threshold and books everything else into a real slot, so the customer ends the call with an answer rather than a promise of a callback.
Can I keep my mobile or landline number?
Yes. Calls to your existing +44 number are forwarded to the agent, all day, only when you do not pick up, or only after hours. Customers dial the same number as today.
Does it work for electricians as well as plumbers and heating engineers?
Yes. It is set up with your trades and services, so it handles power cuts and tripping switches, new sockets and EV charger enquiries, EICR requests from landlords, boiler faults, leaks and annual services, and routes multi-trade calls to the right person.
Does it replace my office manager?
No. It takes the calls that ring out while you are on the tools, in the evening and at weekends, and the busy-season overflow. Your office keeps the customers who need a person, and you take on more work without hiring as you grow.
Where is call data stored?
Data is stored on servers in Germany and Finland. In the standard setup, calls are processed in the EU and the US under GDPR (EU-US Data Privacy Framework, standard contractual clauses). A full-EU setup, with all processing in the EU, is available on request. The subprocessor list is in the DPA.
How much does an AI answering service for trades cost?
AInora is priced individually, after a call. Book a free consultation and we look at your call volumes, out-of-hours calls and trades with you. Whether a trial is possible depends on the project and is agreed after a consultation.
